Upon completion of the post graduate Diploma, students will take an additional semester during which they will focus on the human elements of executive management most important in hospitality. This semester will consist of 6 courses of module 1 and 2 of the MBA program. Students will examine leadership, business relationships, development of managers and organizational strategy, in both the classroom and workplace.
Although both programs include an internship at the end of the studies on campus, it is highly recommended that students undergo a 3 to 6 months work experience in a hotel or restaurant prior to starting the program in order to get acquainted to their new business environment and get a first impression for the industry.
SEMESTERS OVERVIEW
Semester 1:
Operations Management During this first semester, students will acquire the fundamentals of the hospitality industry and more particularly will look at the operational aspect in culinary arts, service and rooms division. In order to grow towards managerial positions, students need to have a full understanding of the operation and this is achieved through learning by doing. They will acquire financial and human resources skills.
Semester 2:
Strategy and Planning During the second semester, students will develop their panning and strategic skills through the organization of an event. This important project encapsulates the entire development and realization of the event. The planning, funding, financial, promotional and logistic phase are all carefully elaborated and analyzed to ensure the viability of it. Students have to present and defend their proposal in front of a panel of faculty and their overall performance will be evaluated.
Semester 3:
Hospitality Leadership
Those opting for the Post Graduate Higher Diploma will join MBA students and attend 6 courses that will develop their managerial and leadership competencies as well as learn about hospitality technologies. Although this semester is more classroom oriented, students will be able to apply their knowledge and understanding of the business world to real case studies.
